Altered Clipboard and other goodies

At school, I have a bingo board where I allow students to put their name in a square when they have done something good. When it gets filled up, I draw two spaces. The first time I drew, I got two girl's names. So I had a few clipboards around and thought I would make them a clipboard. Well... as it turns out, all the girls have wanted one. The boys are not so excited about them, so I get them something different. I bought this clipboard at the Dollar Tree, but I have also gotten them at Walmart. I painted a black square and then got out the good ole' Mod Podge and added scrapbook paper. I hope the lucky little girl will be happy with it.

My friend, Sabrina, painted this great sign for me. She knows how much I love Mary Engelbreit, and this is one of her sayings she puts on her stuff. She did some mosaic on the edge. I so want to try this method. Thanks Sabrina for the great gift.

I put it on my wall in the utility room. I have a great little collection going on. However, I just noticed that the picture on the right side is crooked... Oh well, that's my house for you.

Hope...Faith...Love

I made this cute picture for my mom using scrapbooking paper. I had gotten the frame a couple of years ago and had it in my craft closet. Instead of waiting for just the right pictures of my family to put in it, I decided to do something different. A friend and I have been painting signs and canvas where we had been putting HOPE, Faith, and LOVE. Using these same words, I thought I would use a paint pen to paint on the glass. This was the result....

Bless this Home Sign

My friend just moved into a new house, and I wanted to give her something to add to her home. So I decided to paint something that would add a touch of warmth. So I took a piece of wood, and base painted it carmel candy. I went back and painted a buttercup yellow over the piece. Just before it was completely dried, I took a wet towel and rubbed paint off to give it a peeling paint look. In black, I painted the words "Bless this Home." I used a bronze for the flowers. I didn't want to use to bright of a flower because I wasn't sure what colors she was going to go with. I keep it as neutral as possible.

Luckily, I gave her the picture today and SHE loved it.

Happy painting everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whimsical Birdhouses

These cute bird houses started out as plain wood. I bought them at Hobby Lobby on sale and decided that I wanted to paint on them. I had seen on a show where a lady used birdhouses throughout her garden. I painted them bright colors so that they would be a good contrast up against foliage. I used my one stroke techniques to paint the flowers and leaves. Now I have to come up with some type of stand for them to go out in my garden. Check back soon for an update on these cute little birdhouses.

This was a piece of wood that came off our armoire. It had such a unique finish on it, that I couldn't get rid of any of the pieces. I had another board just like it and painted the word "counselor" for my friend to hang in her office when she graduated from collage. I love daisy and they are easy to paint.

cookbook

This was a composition book that I turned into a cookbook. I haven't put any recipes in it yet, but I plan to do it soon.

These were taken at my mother's house. My kids are so ready for summer...me too.

These birds were found in my mother's yard. Daniel spotted the next last week, and now we have found 2 birds in the nest. I'm not sure if they are doves or pigeons. I guess I need to do my bird research.

My students artwork..

At school, I have started a poetry lesson and with every type of poem, I like to add some type of art. I have posted several different examples that we have been working on. I got the ideas for the art from art projects for kids. Thanks to www.artprojectsforkids.org

old door off of an armoire

My husband and I had gone to an auction in the early part of our marriage and found this fabulous armoire. I remember how my heart pounded waiting to see if we got it or not. We were the lucky bidders. We used it for several years as an entertainment center. But with a few of our moves, the armoire began to fall apart. I told my husband I wanted all the doors and wood off of it. I have made 3 other doors for PTA, friends, and my sister. However, I was able to keep one for myself. My plans are to hang pictures of my children underneath it. Maybe one day I will get to do that. Until then, it will continue to hang as a piece of artwork.

Easter 2010

Easter Sunday - We went to church this morning and heard a wonderful service. How grateful we should be that our Lord sent his son to die on the cross for us. He has worked many miracles in my life. I am so happy to call him my Lord and Savior.
Today we went to my sister's house and had a lovely meal. The kids were able to hunt Easter eggs. What beautiful spring weather we had today. A nice breeze and temperatures in the 80's.
